24-189 Balance

abstract background with colors of cream, beige, dark purple, yellow, green, and teal. on top in purple metallic ink is drawn a small portion of an extra mandala whose center is way off to the upper left of the paper. only one petal of the mandala is fully in view, 5 others are implied. within each petal is drawn a double spiral.

Balance

“to give several things equal amounts of importance, time, or money so that a situation is successful”

This definition, while different than I expected it would be, ties in nicely with this year’s MotD theme of determining our top 2 or 3 core values. That as we explore each one of these 366 values, we unveil the ones that resonate with us the most. Once we know that, then deciding where to spend our equal amounts of importance, time, and energy becomes easier because we’ll only do that which is in alignment with our core values.

This doesn’t mean that we can’t have more than 2 or 3 values, of course we can. It just means that of ALL of them, these are the most important (the core) to you/me. These are the ones that everything gets filtered through. These are the ones that answer the questions:

  • Does this define me?
  • Is this who I am at my best?
  • Is this a filter that I use to make hard decisions?

Last year I discovered my two core values: curiosity and play. I also have a third value, creativity, although, technically, it feels like a subset of curiosity…without curiosity, how can I be creative? Since the words are chosen daily at random, I have yet to do a MotD for curiosity. Play was done on day 64.

Then why do these if I already know my core values? Well…curiosity got the best of me…and I wanted to know more about all of the others…besides, my Team of Guides and Angels (specifically Team Charlotte) “encouraged” me to follow through on this idea, allowing me to play with creating a mandala for all of these values…and thus giving us a visual to go with each value.

So in order for me to have the life of joy that I want, I need a healthy balance of curiosity and play in all that I do.

How about you? Is balance a core value for you?

BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day

Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
