Fortitude

“courage over a long period”

Do you have what it takes to stick to “it” to the end…whatever “it” is? Sometimes that takes a lot of courage especially if it’s something we truly want more than anything and probably feels like it’s going to take “forever” to do. I’m reminded of the posters of a kitten holding on for dear life to a branch with the slogan: hang in there.

We were able to see it demonstrated by an elite group of athletes both in the Olympics and, even more so, in the ParaOlympics. While we ourselves may not be striving to be Olympians, we are striving to make manifest something just as important to us on our own personal level.

My first Archangel mandala painting took seven years to complete. Granted for 3-4 years of that time, I had set it aside, it just wasn’t in me to paint it then. I needed to work through a couple of mindset issues first. And then one day I looked at it and knew it was time to finish it. Shortly after that I started the second one…which took me about 14 months to complete. Now I’m on the third one. I got a good start on it and now I stalled out…although, I can feel it calling me into the studio.

Each one of these Archangel mandala paintings is a lesson in fortitude for me, as well as for the whole series…of which there will be seven…requiring even more fortitude since I only have a vague idea of what number 4 and number 7 will look like. As for numbers 5 and 6, I haven’t a clue.

Essentially, fortitude is about stick-to-it-iveness. It requires a strong desire, lots of courage, and sincere belief in ourselves and in that which we are wanting to make manifest.

How about you? Is fortitude a core value for you?

BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day

Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
