25-147 Surrender Control

MotD 25-147 Surrender Control — after. painted front side of Puzzle Piece No. 66 with colors of browns and blues

Surrender Control

This week we focus on “Sweet Surrender”. As we close out this week, today’s MotD encourages us to consider surrendering control of that which is out of our control to control. Wow, that sentence has a lot of controls in it. While painting this puzzle piece it occurred to me that it shows represents how we muddy the waters when we try to control everything that is not ours to control.

When we surrender control: we free our creativity, we free the creativity of others, we allow ourselves to gain new and improved insights by allowing others to express themselves, we open up a whole new world of possibilities when we let go of controlling how we think things should always be done, and most importantly, we grow and evolve into higher potentials of ourselves.

For years I’ve struggled with the concept of “letting go”. How do you let go of something that is so engrained in us? In the last couple of days, an answer has been slowly making its way into my conscious mind.

We let go by “grabbing” onto something else. Just like with bad habits. Rather than trying to stop a bad habit, start a new one to replace it. So it is with control. If we want to let go of always trying to control things, especially ones we lose our peace over, take a different approach.

For instance if we’re trying to control how others behave, work on changing one of our own behaviors. If we feel the need to rearrange how others “incorrectly” load the dishwasher, next time breathe and leave the dishwasher as is (this is one I need to work on).

How about you ? Are you ready, willing, and able to surrender control over things that are not yours to control ? Are you open to letting people just be rather than trying to fix them ? What’s one thing you can surrender control over this week ? (I’m going to let go of rearranging the dishwasher the way I want them and let them stay wherever my husband puts them.)

BTW…Here’s the before…the front and back view of today’s puzzle piece and the pretty ceramic box that holds all my numbers from which I randomly choose each day’s puzzle piece number:

ABOUT THE 2025 Mandalas of the Day

Throughout the year, I’ll be building one large (48”x48”) Tibetan-styled Mandala one piece at a time…one puzzle piece at a time, that is. The mandala design and the reversed puzzle side were printed on artist-quality watercolor paper. The forward facing puzzle side was printed on a 48”x48” wood panel.

Each day, at random, I’ll be painting in watercolors one of the 365 watercolor puzzle pieces, that by the end of the year will become Archangel Mandala #4. Read more about the Archangel Series. The word/message for each piece will be inspired by Melody Beattie’s book “52 Weeks of Conscious Contact”.

Ultimately, the message of this mandala is about how we are all uniquely part of the one.
