My take on it: If I think of Lesson 1 as the question, Lesson 2 is the answer. By that I mean, yesterday we declared items that we saw as having no meaning. Which begs the question, at least for me, why don’t these things have any meaning ? As it turns out, they, in and of themselves, have no meaning, they just are—they’re neutral. Today we find out that WE are the ones that give things their meaning.

So I can look at a row of mugs on my table. Some will be appealing to me, others will not. The mugs had nothing to do with my perception or perspective of them. They just are as they are. I decide which ones have meaning for me and which ones that don’t.

And I decide which ones I want to use for drink from, which ones I want to use as a pencil/pen holder, which ones I want to use as a planter, which ones I want to use to scoop rice out of the 25lb bag of rice, and which ones I want to toss or give away.

These two lessons are major keys to moving forward through The Course. They remind us/me that we are in the driver seat, we decide what something means not the other way around. Once we know this, once we grasp this major principle, we begin the journey of taking back our power, that we no longer have to be the victim of things, circumstances, or people.

We thus begin the journey to wholeness, joy, peace, and love.
