Lesson 010: ”My thoughts do not mean anything.”

AI Reframe: The stream of thoughts in my mind isn’t inherently meaningful.

Suggested Exercise: Five times, for about a minute or less, close your eyes, and without selection or judgment, apply today’s idea to each thought available to you:

My thought about ____________ does not mean anything.

At the end of each session state: This idea will help to release me from all that I now believe.

My take on it: Today’s lesson contains a subtle difference from Lesson 4. That lesson starts with “These thoughts…”. Lesson 10 starts with “My thoughts”. So this is more focused on us.

The Course states that our minds are really a blank. And at this point, it’s pretty much guaranteed that 99.9% of our thoughts are coming from our ego mind, and therefore meaningless and usually fear based.

These (my) thoughts come from conditioning, time travel (past/future), memory, learned interpretations, and “what ifs”; they tend to want to narrate our lives. It doesn’t mean that they are “bad”, they’re just meaningless.

We’re not being asked to stop thinking. We’re being asked to notice that what we’ve been calling thinking (at least at this stage of The Course) is just the past, tap-dancing on our mind’s main stage…trying to get our attention. As if to say “hey, look at me. let me show you what to think and do.”

For now, just know that these thoughts are not coming from higher place, they are ego-based and therefore meaningless…and we’re encouraged to let them tap dance someplace else.

“Realize that chatty voice is not you. And know true freedom comes the moment you allow yourself to transcend it.”
