Lesson 074: ”There is no will but God’s.”
AI Reframe: Real alignment comes from tuning into my deeper wisdom.
Suggested Exercise:
For the longer practice periods, start by repeating these thoughts several times—slowly and thoughtfully:
There is no will but God’s*.
I cannot be in conflict.
Then spend several minutes adding some related thoughts such as:
I am at peace.
Nothing can disturb me. My will is of the Light.
My will and Love are one.
God wills peace for all.
As conflicts arise during these practices, tell yourself immediately something like:
There is no will but Source’s.
These conflict thoughts are meaningless.
For a particular conflict, tell yourself something like:
There is no will but Love’s. I share it with the Universe.
My conflicts about __________ cannot be real.
Once you’ve cleared your mind, close your eyes and allow yourself to experience peace.
For shorter periods, done at regular intervals, say to yourself something like:
There is no will but Peace’s.
I see that peace today.

Message
I admit, my ego-mind is highly triggered by today’s idea. On the surface, it makes me feel like I have no say in my life—that I have to follow someone else’s will. This brings me back to childhood, always having to do what my parents, church, or school wanted regardless of how I felt about it. That right there is a conflict—a grievance.
From an earlier lesson, we established that God’s will for us is happiness. I re-share this here for you—but mostly for me—as a comforting reminder: “Oh yeah. The God of ACIM is about peace, love, and joy. Not some authoritarian figure forever judging and condemning me.”
With that in mind, I could more readily do today’s practice.
The main message that came through is that I am not alone. I don’t have to go it alone—”it” being life, my hopes and dreams, all of it.
From an early age, it served me best to do as much as possible on my own to avoid causing disruptions at home, church, school, or in relationships. Asking for help or anything else was often tantamount to aggravating, disappointing, or enraging someone in authority. This made me independent and a quick learner, but it hurt me because most of it was done out of fear.
From another perspective, asking for help also meant the help might not come as I wanted—leading to grievances of aggravation, disappointment, and sometimes anger. Doing the Course reminds me that, just like me, others have their own fears and grievances that interfere with their access to inner peace and Truth.
For instance, when I share an idea or project with others, I’m often met with: “Oh—do you really want to do that?” or “That’s a big idea. I couldn’t do that. Are you sure you can?” or “My friend did that once and it was a total disaster.” None of it feels loving or supportive—though in their minds, I’m sure they think they’re being both.
Back to the main message. In connecting with today’s idea of God’s* will and knowing that Their will for me—for all of us—is happiness, I can confidently ask for The Universe’s help. Since The Universe has a broader perspective than I do, Their guidance will steer me toward peace, love, and joy.
*The Course defines “Father/God/His” as an impersonal, formless, infinite principle of pure Love. Substitute whatever term resonates best and allows you to receive the message.
“Lesson 74…encourages me to give up conflict and rest in a deep sense of joy and increased alertness. It tells me this peaceful, joyful way of being is my natural state.
