Lesson 077: ”I’m entitled to miracles.”
AI Reframe: Positive shifts are natural, not rare.
Suggested Exercise:
For the longer practices start by telling yourself—quite confidently—that you are entitled to miracles. Close your eyes and remind yourself that you are asking only for what is rightfully yours. Remind yourself also that in asking for your rights you are upholding the rights of everyone. Miracles follow the laws of God*.
From the Lesson:
“After this brief introductory phase, wait quietly for the assurance that your request is granted. ²You have asked for the salvation of the world, and for your own. ³You have requested that you be given the means by which this is accomplished.⁴You cannot fail to be assured in this. ⁵You are but asking that the Will of God* be done.” (ACIM, W-77.5:1-5)
Technically you’re not really asking for anything—you’re stating a fact that can’t be denied.
For the shorter periods, tell yourself often:
I am entitled to miracles.
Ask for them whenever a situation arises in which they are called for. And since you are not relying on yourself to find the miracles, you are fully entitled to receive it whenever you ask.
* The Course defines “Him[God]” as an impersonal, formless, and infinite principle of pure Love and wills for us only happiness in the form of peace, love, and joy. Substitute whatever term that resonates best and that allows you to receive the message.

From the Lesson:
“Your claim to miracles does not lie in your illusions about yourself. It does not depend on any magical powers you have ascribed to yourself, nor on any of the rituals you have devised. It is inherent in the truth of what you are. … It was ensured in your creation, and guaranteed by the laws of God.” (ACIM, W-77.2:1-5)
By miracles, we mean what happens when we shift who we listen to—from the ego-mind to the Divine Mind. It’s the move from being a victim of the outer world to feeling empowered from within.
For example: Years ago, I traveled to NYC for a convention. Because my dad lived an hour outside the city, I stayed with him. Knowing that time with him could be triggering for us both, I set a simple intention: by the end of the trip, I would be glad I came. I gave it no specifics; I let go of how it should go and trusted it would work out.
Two days before the end of my visit, we had a major blowup. A simple mistake on my part triggered his rage, and then mine. After he calmed down, I was left traumatized, hurt, and angry. My ego-mind couldn’t see how my stated intention could possibly be fulfilled. That night in bed, wounded and frustrated, I prayed—to God, the Holy Spirit, the Angels, anyone who could hear—to help me, because I could not see how this was going to be okay.
Just as I was waking the next morning, a voice in my head said: “Does a bear reveal itself on the bright side?”
It was an odd statement, but I understood it completely. My grievance against him was instantly removed. I got my miracle. The rest of the visit was smooth and enjoyable.
Here’s what I gleaned from that experience. When he’s enraged, it feels like a bear attack. It’s wild, loud, and scary. His reactions usually far exceed what the situation calls for.
But in his rage the day before, he revealed a hidden part of himself: he hates being embarrassed. He hates being wrong. He hates being made to look stupid. Most people can shake those things off, but he can’t. It makes me wonder what grievances he’s been carrying all these years.
Once I understood that about him, my anger and hurt disappeared. It doesn’t excuse his behavior. It just means that now—when, not if, it happens again—I don’t have to lose my peace over it.
This event was life-changing. I asked for a miracle and received one. The key—at least for me—was letting go of the how.
At the train station, heading to the airport, I turned to my dad and said, “I’m glad I came on this trip.” As we hugged, he replied, “I’m glad you did, too.”
“Lesson 77…says I am not here to ‘get by.’ I am here to create the good, the beautiful, and the holy. I am here to dance, to spread love, to give birth to the very best that’s inside me.
