Lesson 096: ”Salvation comes from my one Self.”

AI Reframe: Freedom arises from remembering my True Self

Suggested Exercise:
For the first five minutes of each hour—or whenever feasible—sit quietly to feel the truth of today’s lesson. Begin with saying this:

”Salvation comes from my one Self. Its thoughts are mine to use.”

Then seek Its thoughts and claim them as your own. Ponder these words from the lesson:

Your Self retains [Divine] thoughts, and they remain within your mind and in the Mind of God. ²The Holy Spirit holds salvation in your mind, and offers it the way to peace. ³Salvation is a thought you share with God, because His Voice accepted it for you and answered in your name that it was done. ⁴Thus is salvation kept among the Thoughts your Self holds dear and cherishes for you.” (ACIM, W-96.7:1-4)

Know this:

Each time today you tell your frantic mind salvation comes from your one Self, you lay another treasure in your growing store. ²And all of it is given everyone who asks for it, and will accept the gift. ³Think, then, how much is given unto you to give this day, that it be given you!” (ACIM, W-96.12:1-3)

Message

Today’s lesson is another reminder of a basic ACIM principle: what we seek is within. It’s like the person frantically searching for their glasses while they’re on top of their head. The same goes for those of us who seek peace, love, and joy outside ourselves.

I felt resistance practicing this one. My ego kept telling me I already understood it. I persisted. During the practice, a vision came: a lush oasis amid a dry, blistering hot desert. At its center, a cool, clear pool of water from which all who arrive can drink. Refreshed, I thought: why would I struggle roaming a wasteland full of mirages when I can replenish here?

I’m reminded of the scene in The Wizard of Oz after Dorothy’s house lands in Munchkin Land. At first, she wanders aimlessly, trying to figure out how to get back to Kansas. Glinda tells her to visit the Wizard for answers. And that she start from the beginning of the yellow brick road—step by step. Until then, she had no direction, just questions and uncertainty.

That’s how it is when we rely solely on our ego-mind to solve problems. It often exacerbates uncertainty and confusion, keeping us from peace. When we pause, breathe, and remember who we are and the Divine resources available to us, we can go within and walk our inner yellow brick road to meet our inner Wizard—our True Self. And that Self isn’t just mine. It’s the one Self we all share.

It is there where we find all the answers. “The thoughts that come to you will tell you you are saved… Your Self will welcome it and give you peace.”

“One choice leads to lack, limitations, more of the same. The other leads to Divine Intoxication.”
