Lesson 235: ”God in His mercy wills that I be saved.”
Reframe: Love intends my awakening and freedom.
Suggested Practice:
From now on:
One in the morning and one in the evening for however many minutes feels sufficient. Then every hour remember/recite the idea for the day.
Prayer For today:
(feel free to swap out the wording to whatever resonates with you best)
“Father, Your Holiness is mine. ²Your Love created me, and made my sinlessness forever part of You. ³I have no guilt nor sin in me, for there is none in You.” (ACIM, W-235.2:1-3)
For Lessons 231-240: Salvation is the theme. Read the whole article here.
“The Thought of peace was given to God’s Son the instant that his mind had thought of war. ²There was no need for such a Thought before, for peace was given without opposite, and merely was. ³But when the mind is split there is a need of healing. ⁴So the Thought that has the power to heal the split became a part of every fragment of the mind that still was one, but failed to recognize its oneness. ⁵Now it did not know itself, and thought its own Identity was lost.”
“Salvation is undoing in the sense that it does nothing, failing to support the world of dreams and malice. ²Thus it lets illusions go.” (ACIM, W-pII.2.2:1–3:2)
From the PART II Introduction: Read the whole introduction here.
“Words will mean little now. ²We use them but as guides on which we do not now depend. ³For now we seek direct experience of truth alone. ⁴The lessons that remain are merely introductions to the times in which we leave the world of pain, and go to enter peace. ⁵Now we begin to reach the goal this course has set, and find the end toward which our practicing was always geared.” (ACIM, W-pII.in.1:1-5)

Message
From the Lesson:
“I need but look upon all things that seem to hurt me, and with perfect certainty assure myself, “God wills that I be saved from this,” and merely watch them disappear. ²I need but keep in mind my Father’s Will for me is only happiness, to find that only happiness has come to me.” (ACIM, W-235.1:1-5)
Today’s Lesson reminds me of a video of a mom telling her two young children whether they’re getting a brother or sister. She points the camera at their faces and announces, “You’re getting a sister.”
The girl cheers with delight. The boy bursts into tears.
Same information. Same fact. Two entirely different reactions. The girl chose happiness. The boy chose misery.
That’s our life in a nutshell. Something happens, then we react. The challenge is to pause long enough to distinguish the facts from our story about them, so we can ask ourselves: Do I want to respond from fear and anger, or from peace?
Take today. My husband and I are decluttering the garage. I have this old aluminum cooler from the 60s that my dad used for beach trips and vacations. Fond memories. My husband has wanted it gone for years—we don’t use it, and it takes up space. My ego mind, Juni, was afraid to let it go, guilty about throwing away something that belonged to my dad. Today, I changed my mind. I chose peace and let it go for someone else to use.
How does this connect to God willing us to be saved? The cooler disappeared. So did the guilt and the attachment. That’s what salvation looks like in practice—not a thing vanishing from the world, but a misperception vanishing from my mind. God’s Will for us is perfect happiness. There is no happiness when fear, guilt, and grievances run the show. Happiness comes from choosing peace—and that choice is our salvation.
“Today, I take a bow and ask myself, “If I’ve been this successful at creating separation and pain, what else can I create if I begin focusing on love and infinite possibilities ?”
