Lesson 274: ”Today belongs to Love. Let me not fear.”
Reframe: Today is guided by love; fear has no power over me.
Suggested Practice:
From now on:
Once in the morning and once in the evening for however many minutes feels sufficient. Then every hour remember/recite the idea for the day.
Prayer For today:
(feel free to swap out the wording to whatever resonates with you best)
“Father, today I would let all things be as You created them, and give Your Son the honor due his sinlessness; the love of brother to his brother and his Friend. ²Through this I am redeemed. ³Through this as well the truth will enter where illusions were, light will replace all darkness, and Your Son will know he is as You created him.” (ACIM, W-274.1:1-3)
OR… “Love. Love. Love.”
For Lessons 271-280: What is the Christ? is the theme for the next 10 days. Read the whole article here.
”Christ is God’s Son as He created Him. ²He is the Self we share, uniting us with one another, and with God as well. ³He is the Thought which still abides within the Mind that is His Source. ⁴He has not left His holy home, nor lost the innocence in which He was created. ⁵He abides unchanged forever in the Mind of God.” (ACIM, W-pII.6.1:1-5).
OR put another way…
”We are all of the Light, created by the Light, united with the Light and one another in the Light. Be the Light.”
From the PART II Introduction: Read the whole introduction here.
“Words will mean little now. ²We use them but as guides on which we do not now depend. ³For now we seek direct experience of truth alone. ⁴The lessons that remain are merely introductions to the times in which we leave the world of pain, and go to enter peace. ⁵Now we begin to reach the goal this course has set, and find the end toward which our practicing was always geared.” (ACIM, W-pII.in.1:1-5)

Message
Today’s Lesson reminds me of something a dear friend says when he catches himself or someone around him being unloving. In quick succession he says “LoveLoveLove” as a way to stop and bring himself, and those of us around him, back to a more loving mindset.
For my practice today, I adopted his mantra. Throughout the day, when I found myself having unloving thoughts, I short-circuited them with “LoveLoveLove.” Sometimes I said it to myself, other times aloud. It worked like this: I would catch the thought or feel the tension in my body, acknowledge it, say “LoveLoveLove,” breathe, send a loving thought to the person or situation, and return to peace.
For instance, twice today smoking was a trigger. One person was smoking nearby on my morning walk; the other, while I was out shopping, just reeked of cigarettes. For each, I mentally overwrote my judgments with “LoveLoveLove” toward them and continued what I was doing. In both cases I wasn’t thrilled about the smell, but I released my animosity and returned to peace.
And just a few minutes ago, a boy was practicing his pitching, but the balls were hitting the side of my studio. More judgment on my part. “LoveLoveLove.” I calmed down and was able to ask him, as lovingly as possible, to aim for his net instead of my wall—at least whenever I was in here.
Remembering and using my friend’s “LoveLoveLove” mantra worked well to help me return to Love. Fear showed up as judgment throughout the day. By the end of the day, I noticed the gap between being triggered and returning to Love was narrowing.
Seeing how quickly and easily this mantra worked for me, I’m keeping it with me and using it wherever I go.
“Lesson 274 … says that any thought that’s not of love is fear.”
