At last weekend’s Corvallis Fall Festival, I spotted some fascinating pottery by Hilda Kidd-Barber of Fishbowl Pottery. I really appreciate her beautiful use of mixed media: basket weaving and ceramics. “The stoneware is all wheel thrown, then altered so that reed can be woven through the top third of the vessel after it has been fired.”

What a provocative piece of ancient earthenware from Gran Coclé in Panama. I love how instead of having the symmetry go around the circle, the symmetry is a mirror: top and bottom, and within each half, the mirror symmetry continues with the winged being.

Australian artist and designer, Le-Anne Hoffman of Gypsy Teaparty created a series of large ceramic mandala bowls. This particular one caught my eye because of her delightful use of patterns and colors. It speaks of a bright sunny day frolicking in a colorful flower garden.
