When I see images of nature-inspired mandalas, it takes my breath away. The little kid voice in me says “I wanna do that!”
And that was my reaction yet again when I found today’s MotD from photographer & land artist, Dietmar Voorwold, and his remarkable land art creations. My biggest challenge was figuring out which of his pieces to showcase…they all are spectacular.
In the end I went with this one, which he entitled “AmWeg 80”. I appreciate his stunning use of “mixed media”…the hardness and grey colorations of the stones with the softness and vibrant colors of the leaves. The marriage of these contrasts provides a strong foundation made of stones, allowing for the soft nature of the mandala to shine through wholeheartedly.
About Dietmar’s LandArt from his web site:
LandArt – art in and with nature – has become an essential part of my work. Nature offers everything necessary for an aesthetic work of art, i.e. materials to create something, colours, light und a vast open canvas. Here I can live out my creative passion without limitation, enabling the movement of freedom and the pleasure of breathing deeply.
