British book binder, print maker, and artist, Louisa Boyd, created this mystical watercolour painting, entitled “Flock“, on the pages of her artist book, turning it into a delightfully delicate circular sculpture.
She actually takes the time to do her own bookbinding for her book art, finding the slow process to be both calming and relaxing. About her art she states:
Being brought up in an environment surrounded by books and enjoying the natural world from an early age has provided the influence for my artwork. These seemingly disparate entities both offered me the ability to immerse and lose myself as a child and offered me comfort. In adulthood I recall these themes through my work with nostalgia as they allow me to escape from contemporary society with its complexities and challenges.
Viewing her art feels like a dreamy trip to a far off land and time of serenity and solace. Simply elegant.
