Check out this delightful garden gate art designed and collaboratively built by an amazing local metal artist, Karen Lee-Thompson, of Arts Imaginarium. She also happens to be a wonderful friend, singer, musician, and improv player! AND…she creates exquisite mosaics and precious metal jewelry. Awesome stuff!
About this bike shelter and gate she states:
designed by Karen and collaboratively produced with Dan McKenzie. 14’L x8’w x 12’h. Materials: Steel, stained glass, wood, paint, clear corrugated roofing. Designed to catch the environmental light year round, playfully celebrate alternative transportation, and provide an easy-to-access shelter to secure bikes.
And it’s magical to look at…especially with all those mandalas!
About herself she states:
I have a passion for creating artistic environments and works that positively touch people’s hearts and, hopefully, leave them with a smile, and a sense of community. I enjoy the use of color, whimsy, wonder, and interaction. I enjoy collaborating with other artists, schools, universities, and cities. … I enjoy the stretches required to work with new materials, techniques, and cross-disciplinary fields. All new information leads to creative leaps that enrich us all.
Karen and her art inspire us to find new and creative ways to enrich our lives…and the lives of others.
Happy Coloring!
