This week’s MotD theme: The Color Red
I present my coloring/painting of this week’s Mandala of the Week: The Color Red (from Sunday’s MotD post). I decided to choose colors intuitively…meaning I would look at the section I was about to paint and then blindly pick a color from my box of colors.
I have to admit that had I gone with my ego-self, I would have used a totally different set of colors. I tend to use bright or bold rainbow colors. A part of me was disappointed by the three different shades of brown that showed up. That same part was thrilled, however, with the three upper right colors (similar to primary colors). I also have to admit I did reject one of the colors for one “umbrella” section: black.
So what’s the deal with these colors? That’s the question that kept plaguing me as I painted today’s mandala. And it keeps coming back to the idea of “embracing ALL the colors in my paint box“, to love them all. They are all frequencies within the full color spectrum. They all have value. They all belong. They all have a purpose. They are all worthy of being expressed. And surprisingly, they all seem to know how to play well together.
Inspiration for Today
What parts of ourselves are we hiding away or failing to express? While it may be easy to think of the “negative” traits about ourselves in this regard, how about the “positive” traits?
What gifts, skills, talents, desires do we hide away for fear of rejection, being a disappointment (to ourselves and/or to others) or worst of all…becoming unlovable. When we let it all hang out from a place of loving ourselves, who we are and what we do, we might be surprised by how much more lovable we become.
Time to come out of our comfort zone, to embrace, express and love all that we are, in complete wholeness and whole-heartedly.
I’m happy to post my colorings however I would really love to share and showcase your colorings here as well. Feel free to send them to me. Or you can post them on my Mandala of the Day Facebook page.
If you would want your mandala or your idea for a mandala to be considered for the “Mandala of the Day”, read about how on the Participate page. It’s easy! Or recommend one you’ve seen via my Contact page.
