This Week’s MotD Theme: Sticks & Stones
A customer describes Michigan-born, Australian-resident, Randy DeGraw, as a modern day furniture maker with an artisan’s approach. He creates wood & stone functional furniture, objet d’art and ornamental art.
For this stunning piece he used wood, Boogaroo gold leaf & gem stones. I love the abstract look of the overall sculpture, with the symmetry and asymmetry of the bright color gemstones floating in and around the center gold leaf vortex all upon and in a vertically-lined wooden background. The whole effect pulls me directly into the “eye.”

About his art he states:
Sharing what I do sustains my passion for creating furniture and art. Woodworking is not just what I do, it is an expression of who I am. Whether it’s making a simple box or a board room table, every project I undertake provides the opportunity to create a lasting memento. Building it clean, strong and elegant to provide pleasure and value for generations.
