This week’s MotD theme: Instructables in the Round
Yesterday I showcased an eggshell-size DIY flower. Today I’m showcasing a very large flower made from yoga mats. This awesome instructable comes from Volum3, of Romania. What a great way to repurpose old, worn out yoga mats.
From his instructables post he states:
This Instructional video it’s all about taking a small project and bringing it up to scale. You can find many tutorials on how to make a paper flower. But once you make it bigger the paper will become unstable. I used some Yoga mats that are thicker and a little more rigid. This is only one example of flower, but using the same materials and changing the color scheme, you can make various types of flowers.
While his instructable lacks the template used for the petal shapes, by watching the video you get a sense of what the petals look like. At about half way through tells you how many petals of varying sizes he used. You could also use a completely different pattern, enlarge it, and just watch this video to see how he paints the petals and glues/puts them together.
Check out other Volum3 tutorials via his Instructables page.
Inspiration for Today
Volum3’s yoga-mat flower demonstrates the Creative Spirit in action on a larger scale.
Happy Coloring!
