This week’s MotD theme: Tis the Season for Peace
Located on the Greek island of Lesvos, volunteers from various non-governmental organizations used over 2,500 life jackets to create this very large peace symbol on the island’s mountaintop in January 2016. The life jackets were left behind by Syrian refugees after they arrived in Greece. What a powerful statement.

Chinese contemporary artist Ai Weiwei set up a studio on the Greek island of Lesvos to highlight the tragic humanitarian crisis. During a press conference hosted on New Year’s Day, the artist spoke about Greece, a country that accepted refugees with open arms and saved their lives.
