2017-159: Wheels Mandala in Color

This week’s theme:  Wheels

I present my coloring/painting of this week’s Mandala of the Week: Wheels (from Sunday’s MotD post). In the end this turned into a variation of a color wheel using the primary and secondary colors in a non-traditional order. The complementary colors are side-by-side instead of in opposition to each other: green/red, purple/yellow, and blue/orange.

I like how the inner spirals bring more energy and movement to the wheel, which already implied movement with its curvy spokes. And the little “pearls” (18 of them) add some light and help enliven all the other colors. They almost look like they’re rolling out of the openings in the tubular spokes.

I used Liquitex, M. Graham, and Golden acrylic paints, with gel pen enhancements.

Soon I’ll be posting images of my progress through this painting on my ArtProgressions.com blog site.

Inspiration for Today

“Just as your car runs more smoothly and requires less energy to go faster and farther when the wheels are in perfect alignment, you perform better when your thoughts, feelings, emotions, goals, and values are in balance.” ~ Brian Tracy

Happy Coloring!
