Today I played with one of my designs from the “In Flight” Mandala Coloring Book: Fly Away With Me. I decided to use gel pens for this version. I’ve done two other versions previously.
My progress today:
[Select an image for a larger view]
1 – start with the blank design from the In Flight Mandala Coloring Book
2 – add some blue to the center, add some lighter blue to the spaces around the center
3 – finish adding blue to the center background sections
4 – add some green to the larger “diamond” shaped sections
5 – fill in the remaining background sections with the same blue from the center, and use that same blue to add shadows to the lighter blues
6 – add a shadow line to the green sections, and to the center blue section.
With this version of FAWM, I decided to start with the negative space, the space around and “behind” the main objects in the design. Doing this helps set the tone for the piece and creates new patterns within the design. Where it goes from here has yet to been determined. It will come to me when I sit down to color in it again.
The message or affirmation for this mandala:
I go through this lifetime one grand adventure at a time with dignity and grace.
My Mission: connecting with our Inner Light in delightful, inspiring ways
For me, creating mandalas is more than just coloring pretty patterns in a circle. I do it because my spiritual evolution and creativity require it of me. My mandala designs come about within an active meditative state, connected with my higher self, my spiritual guides and nature spirits.
Together, we bring into form, mandala art the allows me to re-connect with my own inner peace and joy, letting me explore and expand my own creative spirit to however far and in whatever direction I want to take it.
As part of my own spiritual journey, I encourage, and hopefully inspire, others to explore their own creativity, to help them re-connect with their own inner peace and joy. As a means to that end, I make all of my mandalas available for people to color. Why should I have all the fun?
