Working
“Working hard and working smart
— Byron Dorgan
sometimes can be two different things.”
“If you’re changing the world,
— Larry Page
you’re working on important things.
You’re excited to get up in the morning.”
“Growth is never by mere chance;
— James Cash Penney
it is the result of forces
working together.”
Today’s MotD asks us to explore how we are functioning in the world and in relation to each other. By functioning we mean what state of mind are we in. Are we functioning in mindfulness? scattered-ness? fearfulness? happiness? anxiousness? peacefulness? All of the above? None of the above? Depends on the time of day or day of the week?
In what state of mind do we want to function? When we begin to pay attention to our own states of mind (how we’re functioning) and its fluctuations, we may begin to pick up on other people’s states of mind and their fluctuations. Doing so gives us a greater ability to be more tolerant or at least more understanding of others. As observers instead of reactors, we can create a better environment where we are all working together, creating a better world for all.
