22-097 Solace

Today’s Mandala
Solace

Comfort comes from knowing
that people have made the same journey.
And solace comes from understanding
how others have learned to sing again.

— Helen Steiner Rice

To look for solace
is to learn to ask fiercer and
more exquisitely pointed questions,
questions that reshape our identities
and our bodies and
our relation to others.

— David Whyte

It’s incredibly restorative.
A lot of people
find great solace in gardening.
It teaches self-worth, patience,
reliance, persistence.
It teaches us the circle of life.
It teaches us that things die,
and from that new things come.

— Nancy Kuhajda

Today’s MotD reminds us to go easy on ourselves by seeking comfort in whatever form soothes our soul especially when the world around us (individually and globally) seems to be in upheaval.

Some ideas:

  • being with dear friends
  • walking (being) in nature
  • a warm comforting bath or shower
  • doing something creative
  • hugging a pet
  • holding a baby
  • listening to a baby laugh
  • watching a sunrise or sunset
  • being in or near a body of water (pond, lake, ocean, etc)
  • watching a favorite movie
  • making/eating a favorite meal
  • hugging a loved one
