22-114 Forgive

Today’s Mandala
Forgive

 “The more you know yourself,
the more you forgive yourself.”

— Confucius

“The burden of regret
can weigh us down heavily
on our spiritual journey.
The best way to release regret
is to forgive ourselves.”

— James Van Praagh

“There are only 2 two ways
to have a peaceful conscience:
Never do anything wrong
or learn self-forgiveness
(Pro tip: first way’s impossible)”

— Elizabeth Gilbert

Today’s MotD encourages us to practice the art of self forgiveness. “Being able to forgive [ourselves] requires empathy, compassion, kindness, and understanding” “The process of forgiving [ourselves] forces [us] to face the reality of how [we] treat [ourselves]. Beating ourselves up for being human holds us back from experiencing our true potential. As long as we continuing to put ourselves down we will forever stay down. Time to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and start all over again.

From BannerHealth.com, 5 Tips for Forgiving Ourselves:

  • Accept that the past is the past – it can not be changed
  • Speak the truth
  • Recognize our unrealistic expectations for ourselves
  • Put things into perspective
  • If at first we don’t succeed, try, try, again
