Today’s Mandala
Joy
Joy is not a constant.
— Brené Brown
It comes to us in moments
– often ordinary moments.
Sometimes we miss out on
the bursts of joy because we’re too busy
chasing down the extraordinary moments.
Other times
we’re so afraid of the dark
we don’t dare let ourselves enjoy the light.
A joyful life is not a floodlight of joy.
That would eventually become unbearable.
I believe a joyful life is made up of
joyful moments gracefully strung together
by trust, gratitude and inspiration.
Today’s MotD encourages us to embrace our ordinary moments of joy; to be grateful for them regardless of their size. When we allow ourselves to be fully present in any given moment, we can more readily discover these uplifting moments of joy.
One way we can do this is to set a daily intention to be more consciously aware of the moments of joy that are happening all around us. And at the end of the day we can remember them with gratitude as we go off to sleep.
“Joy is what happens to us
— Marianne Williamson
when we allow ourselves to recognize
how good things really are.”
