22-241 Nexus

Today’s Mandala
Nexus

“What we are seeking is the nexus
of all possible worlds and states of mind,
which is within us.
The source of yin and yang
is within you.”

— Frederick Lenz

“Each individual in a society
is a nexus where
innumerable relationships
of this character intersect.”

— Carroll Quigley

“Emotions are at the nexus
of thought and action,
of self and other,
of person and environment,
of biology and culture.
Emotion is a term
that evokes many connotations,
from the way we “feel”
to the ways our lives
are integrated across time.”

— Diana Fosha

Today’s MotD reminds us of our interconnectedness with all things: human to self, human to human, human to creatures, human to environment, human to planet. We tend to experience a disconnect when we become lost in the minutia of our day-to-day lives.

As often as we can we are encouraged to pause throughout our day to break the spell, to reconnect, firstly with our inner self (soul). One way to do that is to take a moment to place a hand over our heart, close our eyes, take a few deep breaths, and be still with who we really are. Then one-by-one take an extra moment to recognize with gratitude our relationships with 1) the souls of those around us (humans and creatures), 2) the environment where we are in that moment (home, work, play, inside, outside), and 3) this planet that supports us and gives us the opportunity to be alive in human form.

“To drop into being means
to recognize your interconnectedness
with all life, and with being itself.
Your very nature is being part of
larger and larger spheres of wholeness.”

— Jon Kabat-Zinn
