Aim
“Don’t aim for success
— David Frost
if you want it;
just do what you love
and believe in it,
and it will come naturally.”
“The greater danger for most of us
— Michelangelo
lies not in setting our aim too high
and falling short;
but in setting our aim too low,
and achieving our mark.”
“If four things are followed
— A. P. J. Abdul Kalam
– having a great aim,
acquiring knowledge,
hard work, and perseverance
– then anything can be achieved.”
Today’s MotD encourages us to take aim at our goals (dreams, aspirations, etc) and follow through with commitment, trust, and belief in them coming to fruition. It’s been said that we wouldn’t have the strong desire for our goal(s) if it wasn’t meant for us. We could get into all the why’s and whereto’s about them not happening yet (fears, procrastination, etc), but in truth, we just need to take a step in it’s direction. Like the line from the movie Bull Durham: “don’t think, just do”.
Our challenge becomes simply to make a decision: decide to act on a goal and then follow through to completion. For some of us, the issue may be a lack of self discipline. If that’s the case VeryWellMind.com offers: How to be More Disciplined.
If we can make it a habit to spend at least 5 minutes a day on our goal, we’ll be amazed at how fast that 5 minutes goes by and could easily turn into 60 minutes or more if we let it…because of momentum. Really, the trick in all of this is to just take aim with the first step, the rest will fall into place over time. Start with 5 and grow from there.
“The most difficult thing
— Amelia Earheart
is the decision to act,
the rest is merely tenacity.
The fears are paper tigers.
You can do anything
you decide to do.
You can act to change
and control your life;
and the procedure,
the process is its own reward.”
