Continuing with Principle #3 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Decide what you want”, I set the intention today to look at health and well-being-ness. As part of his visualization exercise associated with this principle, Canfield invites us to visualize the answers to some of these (paraphrased) questions:
- “how do you envision your body? your health?
- are you strong, flexible, free of dis-ease?
- do you exercise? eat healthy?
- how do you take care of your heart (physically & emotionally)?
- how about the state of your mental health? state of mind? open? relaxed?”
Today’s coloring is brought to you by an ordinary $2 ball point pen…proving to me that coloring mandalas (or any art) can be a simple and inexpensive endeavor…it’s all about the process, the journey of coloring. Throughout this coloring, I kept hearing the phrases “the heart wants what the heart wants” and “listen to your heart”. For years my head has been more in charge than my heart. The message I’m sensing repeatedly is to have courage (French: of the heart) and follow my heart. Judging by the lines, it feels like the heart wants to blossom and grow…and more importantly: have fun while do so.
It makes me curious about heart health and wellness. I wonder if much of the heart disease prevalent in our society is related to people ignoring their heart’s desire, thus creating heart-ache. Something to ponder…or not.
So how about you? Do you tend to listen more to your head or your heart? If you were to sit for a moment and truly connect with your heart, what would it tell you?
“It’s impossible,” said Pride.

“It’s risky,” said Experience.
“It’s pointless,” said Reason.
“Give it a try,”
whispered the Heart.
An Invitation
I invite you to color along with me this year as part of what I’m calling “The Year of Self-Exploration and Expansion” with all of my “Mandalas of the ___” (day, week, month, year). If you’re interested in more of a self-exploration approach to coloring, check out my “Coloring Mandalas as Meditation”. You can download this mandala to color at MandalaoftheWeek.com.
