Continuing with Principle #5 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Believe in Yourself”, I set the intention today to ponder the question: Do I trust myself? Yes and No. Hence why this coloring is black and white and gray…meaning sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t, and sometimes I sorta do.
From Lyn Christian at SoulSalt.com: “Self-trust means consistently staying true to yourself. At its very core, trusting yourself means you look after your own needs and safety. You treat yourself with love and compassion, rather than strive for perfection. You know, deep down, that you can survive difficulties (and you refuse to give up on yourself).” She offers 12 strategies to help with gaining self trust.
Here’s a rather mundane personal example. Everyday I say to myself that I want to go to bed by 10:30 pm…yet every night, it’s more like 11:30 or later. I’m not clear as to why I do this and with today’s question about trusting myself, I feel like I’m getting closer to the issue at hand. “Why can’t I trust myself to go to bed at my intended time?” As I ponder it now, I’m also realizing that it could possibly be another form of self-sabotage…ie, another excuse to beat myself up again. “see…you can’t even go to bed on time”. I think the healing starts with a big dose of self-compassion. I’ll work on it.
So how about you? Do you have issues with self-trust? What does it mean to you? How does it present itself? What have you done to gain self trust?
“Trust yourself.

Create the kind of self
that you will be
happy to live with
all your life.
Make the most of yourself
by fanning the tiny,
inner sparks of possibility
into flames of achievement.”
