23-055 Manageable #6

Continuing with Principle #8 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Clunk it Down”, I set my intention to ponder the idea of goals overwhelm and how (for me) it can lead to procrastination.

In a previous principle Canfield suggested making a list of 101 goals you want to achieve before you die. I did this task last year. Just the thought of it overwhelms me. I question how it’s possible and ponder ignoring all of them. In looking over that list this morning, I realized I created this list without being specific and without any timeframe. AND…I have yet to create any mind-maps or action steps for them. Actually, if I’m being totally honest here, I have put off doing the mind-mapping and action steps for the three newer goals that I said I would in my last few MotDs. Why? It overwhelms me. Why? I don’t believe I can make them happen. Why? Because they look like too much work or they’ll take too much time. Why? Is it even worth it to try. Why? Who cares. Why? Actually, I care.

As I look at this version of “Manageable” and how the sections look like pieces of stone (80 pieces of stone), it reminds that nothing is carved in stone, I can always change my mind. And unless I take the time to address my goals, they’ll just fly off into the cosmos awaiting manifestation someplace else by someone else. It behooves me to reconsider these goals, give them a change…they deserve it…I deserve it.

So how about you? Do you tend to procrastinate with your goals? Do they overwhelm you? How do you cope? What would it take to make that first step towards manifesting your goals? (and for me to manifest mine).

“You don’t have to
figure everything out today.
You don’t have to solve
your whole life tonight.
And you don’t have to
tackle everything at once.
You just have to show up and try.
You just have to focus
on the most immediate thing
in front of you.
And you have to trust
that you’ll figure out the rest
along the way.”
