Today’s Mandala Message: What we visualize is what we get.
I’m continuing with Principle #11 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” (TSP) entitled “See What You Want, Get What You See. Today I set my intention to ponder the reticular activating system (RAS)…yes, it’s a real thing…a brain-y science-y thing.
Up until I read it (the second time) in TSP, I had never heard or or knew about the RAS. We are inundated with millions of bits of information in any given moment—way too much to effectively process. One of the RAS’s jobs is to filter out the excess “noise” (unimportant data) and only let in what it deems to be the important stuff…based on the parameters we set for it (images and beliefs).
From Arianne Missimer of The Movement Paradigm she states: “The Reticular Activating System is responsible for our wakefulness, our ability to focus, our fight-flight response, and how we ultimately perceive the world. It can control what we perceive in our consciousness, essentially a gatekeeper of information. …[it] acts as this gatekeeper so that we can focus our attention on specific things … these specific things can help us meet the goals that we’ve set for ourselves.“
Canfield states: “[the RAS] lets in anything that will help you achieve the goals you have set and constantly visualize and affirm. It also lets in anything that matches your beliefs and images about yourself, others, and the world.” So you can see how it definitely matters what images and beliefs we continuously put forth to our conscious and subconscious minds..
Importantly, he further states: “The RAS is a powerful tool, but it can only look for ways to achieve the exact pictures you give it. Your creative subconscious doesn’t think in words—it can only think in pictures. …When you give your brain specific, colorful, and vividly compelling pictures to manifest—it will seek out and capture all the information necessary to bring that picture into reality for you.”
So how about you? Did you know about this RAS? Does it give you a different perspective on how much it matters the beliefs and images we “feed” into and about ourselves and our goals?
“When you set your intent,
— Kris Hallbom and Tim Hallbom
you are marrying
your subconscious mind
with your conscious will
to make something happen.
It is like you are sending
your Reticular Activating System
a message that you are “expecting”
the event to happen,
and there is absolutely
no room for uncertainty.
