Today’s Mandala Message: Step By Step
This week I’m working through Principle #16 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Be Willing to Pay the Price”. I set my intention today to ponder the idea of determining the steps it’s going to take to achieve a goal. When you don’t know what the “pay the price” cost of your goal is, Canfield states: “Sometimes the first step is to investigate the steps that will be required to achieve your desired goal. …You may discover that some costs are more than you want to pay…. Only you can decide what is right for you and what price your are willing to pay. It may be that what you want doesn’t serve you in the long run. But if it does, find out what you need to do, and then set about doing it.”
In the early days of creating mandalas, I felt inspired to create and self-publish my own mandala color books…years before the adult coloring book craze kicked in. At the time I was willing to pay the price of creating the designs (eight per book), printing the pages on 100# card stock paper using my printer, hole punching / spiral-binding them, and then packaging them in clear, protective bags… all of this I did by myself. It was an all-day process just to create a hundred coloring books…and I had 20 different books.
After about 10-12 years of this, I came to realize that I wasn’t willing to “pay the price” for them any more. I still have the books…they’re now only in PDF form. One of my goals in the next year or so is to re-organize them with more designs per book and adding inspirational messages and meditation prompts.
My challenge now is to find a publishing company that will print them for me, with the level of quality I had in my original books. If you have any suggestions, I’m open to hearing about them. In the meantime, there’s plenty (of steps) I can do to make this goal a reality.
So how about you? What steps will it take to accomplish your goal(s)? What will it take to accomplish each step? Are you willing to go step by step?
