Lesson 033: ”There is another way of looking at the world.”

AI Reframe: A different, more helpful perspective is available.

Suggested Practice:
Two, five-minute sessions are recommended for today whereby we spend time in both our outer and inner world. During a session, softly, organically, alternate between looking around you and closing your eyes observing your inner world while gently repeating today’s idea:

There is another way of looking at the world.

Also, throughout your day, repeat the idea often—especially as soon as you experience anything that distresses you by stating:

There is another way of looking at this.

Message

This is great news indeed. To realize that we have options in how we see the world puts the power back into our hands. It gently moves us away from victimhood and into empowerment.

And yet, the mind may protest: “I know what I’m seeing—and it doesn’t look good right now.” From that perspective, it’s true. We can only see what we currently believe.

That’s why today’s lesson doesn’t ask us to change how we see—only to open to the possibility that there is another way. Even that small willingness creates a soft shift. We move from feeling like a victim of circumstances to becoming a curious observer. We’re no longer stuck inside the story; we’re standing at the doorway.

And once the door is open, the real answer has a way of finding its way to us.

I’m reminded of how my brothers and I often reminisce about events from our childhood. The same moment, the same memory—and yet each of us experienced it entirely differently. What I remember as frustrating or upsetting, one of my brothers recalls as joyful. Not because one of us is wrong, but because we didn’t understand the full picture at the time.

One year, when I was a teenager, my mother asked me to help clean the house and prepare for my middle brother’s birthday party. I happily obliged, being the good daughter and sister. About halfway through the morning, my brothers accidentally revealed that the party was actually for me.

Suddenly, my perception shifted. What had felt generous now felt manipulative. I was irritated and resentful, convinced my mother had tricked me into working on my own birthday. Of course, in her mind, it was meant to be a funny surprise.

Eventually, I calmed down, laughed, and enjoyed the celebration—but only after my perspective changed.

While this story may be a reversal of today’s lesson, it clearly illustrates the point: the meaning of any situation is never fixed. With today’s practice, we’re invited to notice when we feel distressed and gently remind ourselves that there isanother way of looking at this. And in that reminder, we reclaim our power—and open ourselves to new possibilities.

“A simple shift of perception…unlocks a treasure chest of new possibilities.”
