Lesson 144: Review of Lessons 127 and 128
AI Reframe: My awareness retains only what aligns with truth: love is real; appearances are not.
Suggested Practice:
Two five-minute sessions: morning and evening. Start each session by opening your mind and clearing it of all thoughts that would deceive, and let this thought alone engage your mind fully, and remove the rest:
My mind holds only what I think with God*.
Then read each of today’s review ideas:
127: There is no love but God’s.
128: The world I see holds nothing that I want.
Close your eyes and say them slowly to yourself. Let each idea give you the gift that He* has laid in it for you. Then close the practice with the first idea.
Throughout the day, each hour, bring to mind today’s main idea and two review ideas. Spend a quiet moment with them without adding any other thoughts.
*God: an impersonal, formless, and infinite principle of pure Love. Substitute whatever term that resonates best and allows you to receive the message. The Will of God is our happiness.
Message
When I did the two review lessons previously, I saw them as two different concepts. Looking at them today, at first I didn’t see how they would go together. But during the first practice session, while contemplating all three ideas, a visual came to mind. I’m soaring above a vast landscape. Below, people go about their usual routines. I look to the right where the sun is rising. A golden glow slowly shines upon everything I see, like a wave passing through. As the wave illuminates each person, they stop what they’re doing and turn toward the sun in awe, as if understanding for the first time the meaning of God’s love.
This reminded me of the movie Pleasantville—where everything is in black and white, or technically greyscale. It’s like watching TV before color TVs existed (I’m old enough to remember those days). In their greyscale world, everyone operates in a trance, doing the same things day in and day out.
Then one day, color arrives. One by one, as people wake up to color, they become more alive, curious, passionate, and creative. Joy and laughter spread with the color. Those who fear the color—new thought—stay in their greyscale state.
The movie’s theme is more of a political statement about oppression versus progression. But with today’s lesson, I see it as what happens when we align with the Divine and embrace our true nature: we gain full access to peace, love, and joy. Why would we want to go back to grayscale?
The visual image and the Pleasantville reference bring today’s review ideas together for me. The sun’s glow and the color represent God’s love, empowering those who experience Its effects and showing them the world they truly want.
“Anytime I’m not in the present moment, that tape loop kicks in and old constructions and perceptual habits take over, infecting my thinking, my actions, and my beliefs.”
