Lesson 152: ”The power of decision is my own.”

AI Reframe: I hold the power to choose my perception and response.

Suggested Practice:
From the Lesson:

Today we practice true humility, abandoning the false pretense by which the ego seeks to prove it arrogant. ²Only the ego can be arrogant. ³But truth is humble in acknowledging its mightiness, its changelessness and its eternal wholeness, all-encompassing, God’s perfect gift to His beloved Son*. ⁴We lay aside the arrogance which says that we are sinners, guilty and afraid, ashamed of what we are; and lift our hearts in true humility instead to Him Who has created us immaculate, like to Himself in power and in love.” (ACIM, W-152.9:1-4)

…”Now do we join in glad acknowledgment that lies are false, and only truth is true. ²We think of truth alone as we arise, and spend five minutes practicing its ways, encouraging our frightened minds with this:

The power of decision is my own.
This day I will accept myself
as what my Father’s Will** created me to be.

⁵Then will we wait in silence, giving up all self-deceptions, as we humbly ask our Self that He reveal Himself to us. ⁶And He Who never left will come again to our awareness, grateful to restore His home to God, as it was meant to be.” (ACIM, W-152.11:1-6)

Then hourly throughout the day, repeat today’s idea:

The power of decision is my own.
This day I will accept myself
as what my Father’s Will** created me to be.

*Collectively, we are “His Son”—a term used to emphasize our shared humanity and our equal role in seeing the world, and everyone in it, through the eyes of love, thereby waking up from the dream of separation.

**God’s Will for us is perfect happiness.

Message

Of the two and half pages of text for this lesson, this section resonated with me deeply:

”⁵Truth cannot have an opposite. ⁶This can not be too often said and thought about. ⁷For if what is not true is true as well as what is true, then part of truth is false. ⁸And truth has lost its meaning. ⁹Nothing but the truth is true, and what is false is false.” (ACIM, W-152.3:5-9)

This approaches ACIM’s core principle from a slightly different angle.

The truth, as I understand it from the lessons so far, is that we are as Love/God/the Divine created us: peace, love, and joy personified, one with all that is. Anything outside that is false—an ego illusion, arrogant on its part.

Today’s lesson reminds us that because truth has no opposite, we have the power of free will to simply decide between accepting or rejecting the truth. How we experience our human adventure depends on that choice and what it brings. With that power comes great responsibility.

Awareness of this power means we are no longer victims of our lives but creators of them. It’s a no-brainer: do we want to be an expression of pain and suffering, or an expression of our True Self: peace, love, and joy? The power of decision is my own.
