Lesson 209: Review of Lesson 189: I feel the Love of God within me now.

Reframe: I feel love and connection flowing through me now.

Suggested Practice:

Overall Approach to the Review of Lessons 181-200:

“Besides the time you give morning and evening, which should not be less than fifteen minutes, and the hourly remembrances you make throughout the day, use the idea as often as you can between them. ³Each of these ideas alone would be sufficient for salvation, if it were learned truly. ⁴Each would be enough to give release to you and to the world from every form of bondage, and invite the memory of God to come again. …

“These practice sessions … are centered round a central theme with which we start and end each lesson. ²It is this:

³I am not a body. ⁴I am free.
⁵For I am still as God created me.

Special thought for today’s Lesson:

189: I feel the Love of God within me now.

²The Love of God is what created me. ³The Love of God is everything I am. ⁴The Love of God proclaimed me as His Son.⁵The Love of God within me sets me free. (ACIM, W-209.1:2-5)

⁶The day begins and ends with this. ⁷And we repeat it every time the hour strikes, or we remember, in between, we have a function that transcends the world we see. ⁸Beyond this, and a repetition of the special thought we practice for the day, no form of exercise is urged, except a deep relinquishment of everything that clutters up the mind, and makes it deaf to reason, sanity and simple truth. (ACIM, W-rVI.in.1:1–3:8)

“…Permit no idle thought to go unchallenged. ³If you notice one, deny its hold and hasten to assure your mind that this is not what it would have. ⁴Then gently let the thought which you denied be given up, in sure and quick exchange for the idea we practice for the day.”

When you are tempted, hasten to proclaim your freedom from temptation, as you say:

This thought I do not want. ³I choose instead _____________

And then repeat the idea for the day, and let it take the place of what you thought.” (ACIM, W-rVI.in.5:1–6:4)

Message

To help me with today’s Lesson, I went back to Lesson 189 and reread what I’d written. It reminded me to focus on my heart, not my brain, to understand Lesson 209. That prompted the question: If I were to embrace today’s idea, what would I do differently?

I took each of the four lines and applied that question.

“The Love of God is what created me.” I would honor that love by doing all I can to live up to my full potential while in human form and to be a living example of that love.

“The Love of God is everything I am.” I would extend that love to others by remembering that we are all whole and complete just as we are.

“The Love of God proclaimed me as His Son (Child of God).” I would have a stronger sense of belonging to an energy and power far greater than my human form—and not just me, but everyone else on this planet.

“The Love of God within me sets me free.” I would remind myself that whenever fear or limitation keeps me locked away, as a Child of God, I am more than this body. I am safe. I am free to follow wherever peace, love, and joy lead me.

I admit, I’m not sure I feel the Love of God within me—at least not all the time. I know it’s mostly because my ego mind tends to be in charge by default. For instance, I have four or five Mandala Lady projects I’m stalling on. I see tremendous potential for sharing my gifts with the world, yet I let limiting beliefs get in the way. Intellectually, I know it’s silly to let these fears keep me from moving forward.

But now that I’ve looked at these four statements, I have something more solid to remind me: Oh yeah, you can do this—heck, you’re one of God’s creations. And as such, you don’t let no stinkin’ fear hold you back from living your best life.

Even with that pep talk, I know those four lines don’t make me feel the love—they give me a way to show up as if I do until I’m able to feel it for real.

I could put it this way: I am the light of God; I let His love lead the way—whether I feel it or not.

“When I first started this practice many years ago, the excess weight I’d been carrying melted off.”
