Lesson 250: ”Let me not see myself as limited.”
Reframe: I recognize the infinite nature of who I truly am.
Suggested Practice:
From now on:
Once in the morning and once in the evening for however many minutes feels sufficient. Then every hour remember/recite the idea for the day.
Prayer For today:
(feel free to swap out the wording to whatever resonates with you best)
“He is Your Son, my Father. ²And today I would behold his gentleness instead of my illusions. ³He is what I am, and as I see him so I see myself. ⁴Today I would see truly, that this day I may at last identify with him.” (ACIM, W-250.2:1-4)
OR… “I am he, As you are he, As you are me, And we are all together.”
For Lessons 241-250: What is the World? is the theme. Read the whole article here.
”The world is false perception. ²It is born of error, and it has not left its source. … The world was made as an attack on God. ²It symbolizes fear. ³And what is fear except love’s absence? … ⁵Yet everything that they report is but illusion which is kept apart from truth. … As sight was made to lead away from truth, it can be redirected. ²Sounds become the call for God, and all perception can be given a new purpose by the One Whom God appointed Savior to the world [that’s us]. ³Follow His light…Hear His Voice…let Him give you peace and certainty…⁴We must save the world.
From the PART II Introduction: Read the whole introduction here.
“Words will mean little now. ²We use them but as guides on which we do not now depend. ³For now we seek direct experience of truth alone. ⁴The lessons that remain are merely introductions to the times in which we leave the world of pain, and go to enter peace. ⁵Now we begin to reach the goal this course has set, and find the end toward which our practicing was always geared.” (ACIM, W-pII.in.1:1-5)

Message
From the Lesson:
”Let me behold the Son of God today, and witness to his glory. ²Let me not try to obscure the holy light in him, and see his strength diminished and reduced to frailty; nor perceive the lacks in him with which I would attack his sovereignty.” (ACIM, W-250.1:1-2)
This Lesson can seem confusing at first. The title says, “Let me not see myself as limited,” but the content focuses on how we should see the Son of God—as holy, strong, and of the light. Which is it? Him or me?
Spoiler: WE are the Son of God—each and every one of us. “He is what I am, and as I see him so I see myself.” So WE are holy, strong, and of the light. Because we are united as one Self, to judge others as diminished, lacking, or frail is to see ourselves that way.
Today’s Lesson encourages us to stop limiting our light—that is, to stop believing we are frail, lacking, or less than the holy Self God created. When we let the ego mind rule, fears, grievances, and limiting beliefs take over and block our light, our truth. And when we do that to ourselves, we do the same to others.
As part of my practice today, I looked at my reflection and said:
- “I am holy, strong, and of the light.”
- “Let me not limit myself.”
- “To limit myself is an injustice to my true self.”
- “I am so much more than this body.”
- “I’m a holy Child of God, whole and complete just as I am.”
Afterward, I felt wonderfully neutral—which may sound strange. Hear me out: any other time in my life, these affirmations would have triggered self-doubt and cringey skepticism. So neutrality is actual progress. The resistance to these thoughts is no longer there. It makes me feel that fully embodying these words is within reach.
It also begs the question: why would I choose to see myself as limited when God does not? And yet I do. That’s the habit this Lesson invites me to break.
“Lesson 250 encourages me to swipe right, to pick pictures that make me happy, pictures I’d actually like to ‘date’.”
