Lesson 262: ”Let me perceive no differences today.”
Reframe: Today, I see all beings as equal expressions of love.
Suggested Practice:
From now on:
Once in the morning and once in the evening for however many minutes feels sufficient. Then every hour remember/recite the idea for the day.
Prayer For today:
(feel free to swap out the wording to whatever resonates with you best)
“Father, You have one Son. ²And it is he that I would look upon today. ³He is Your one creation. ⁴Why should I perceive a thousand forms in what remains as one? ⁵Why should I give this one a thousand names, when only one suffices? ⁶For Your Son must bear Your Name, for You created him. ⁷Let me not see him as a stranger to his Father, nor as stranger to myself. ⁸For he is part of me and I of him, and we are part of You Who are our Source, eternally united in Your Love; eternally the holy Son of God.” (ACIM, W-262.1:1-8)
OR… “We are all One and the same as Source created us.”
For Lessons 261-270: What is the body? is the theme. Read the whole article here.
”The body is a fence the Son of God imagines he has built, to separate parts of his Self from other parts.”… The body is a dream. ²Like other dreams it sometimes seems to picture happiness, but can quite suddenly revert to fear, where every dream is born. ³For only love creates in truth, and truth can never fear. ⁴Made to be fearful, must the body serve the purpose given it. ⁵But we can change the purpose that the body will obey by changing what we think that it is for… The body is the means by which God’s Son returns to sanity …³The Son of God extends his hand to reach his brother, and to help him walk along the road with him. ⁴Now is the body holy. ⁵Now it serves to heal the mind…³Your safety lies in truth, and not in lies. ⁴Love is your safety. ⁵Fear does not exist. ⁶Identify with love, and you are safe.⁷Identify with love, and you are home. ⁸Identify with love, and find your Self.
From the PART II Introduction: Read the whole introduction here.
“Words will mean little now. ²We use them but as guides on which we do not now depend. ³For now we seek direct experience of truth alone. ⁴The lessons that remain are merely introductions to the times in which we leave the world of pain, and go to enter peace. ⁵Now we begin to reach the goal this course has set, and find the end toward which our practicing was always geared.” (ACIM, W-pII.in.1:1-5)

Message
From the Lesson:
“We who are one would recognize this day the truth about ourselves. ²We would come home, and rest in unity.” (ACIM, W-262.2:1-2)
Today’s Lesson reminds me of the first line from the Beatles song “I am the walrus”: “I am he as you are he, as you are me and we are all together.” It’s been an earworm all day, which worked out well as my practice and as a reminder because I interacted with more people than usual today—how convenient.
Each time I saw someone either in person or during a zoom session this morning, I recited the lyric to myself, altering the pronouns as appropriate. Doing that helped lightened my spirit, kept me from judging, and reinforced the Lesson—perceive no differences. When I forgot to recite it or noticed my ego mind judging someone, I would stop, breathe, and recite the lyric again.
For some people it required multiple recitations because I was extra judgy even going so far as to see some of them as horrible people. In an earlier Lesson we learned that it’s impossible for us to judge because none of us—at least in human form—know the full picture. With that in mind and my lyric practice, I was at least able to get to neutral emotionally, while completely understanding intellectually.
Another approach I’ve used in the past is internally saying “Namaste” as a way to remind me. However, as a shortcut I sometimes said it out of habit without fully embracing its meaning: the light in my sees the light in you, which also a lovely alternative and works well to help me perceive no differences.
