208 – Sunflower Mandala
Laniesse of Corvallis captured this amazing up-close-and-personal photo of a bee doing its thing on this beautiful sunflower. While the whole flower (petals and all) certainly qualify as a mandala, the round center of the flower absolutely is so.
205 – Ascorbic Acid Mandala
Richard L. Howley describes his images as his “eccentric ventures in microscopy and natural history.” He submits his articles and images to Micscape Magazine produced by Microscopy UK.
190 – Seven Pointed Star Mandala
My local friend, Ella, recently visited High Country Gems & Minerals rock shop in Glenwood Springs, CO, where the owner, Patti Rock Star, shared with Ella this beautifully stunning seven pointed star pattern imbedded inside a geode. What an AMAZING creation by Mother Nature. And SEVEN points? Wow!
187 – Orchids and Mums Danmala
Kathy Klein creates beautiful danmalas (the giving of flower circles) using a variety of flower blossoms. In this case, she used orchid petals and mum flowers.
The striking contrast between the deep maroons/purples of the orchids and the white mums makes this danmala really pop against the wood background. The dash of yellow warms it up.
180 – White Spotted Mandala
Today we go under the sea for today’s MotD. Zoologist and also Sr. Editor for NotCot.org, Justine Aw photographed these white spotted jellyfish (phyllorhiza punctata) at the Steinhart Aquarium at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, California.
178 – Greenery Mandala
Nature artist, Janelle Amos, created yet another stunning mandala, this time made from found-in-nature greenery. I previously showcased her sunflower seed mandala on day 104.
