Yesterday an amazing thing happened…and it was 10 years and three-billion-miles in the making! NASA’s New Horizons did it’s closest flyby past the last known planet in our solar system: Pluto. And look what appeared around the back side: an area that looks like a heart. And for me, I can also see it as a white dove flapping its wings.
Here’s another side of Pluto with its largest moon, Charon. Notice the top of the heart just coming into view on the left side. Also note how big Charon is in comparison to Pluto. Can you imagine what it would be like if our moon was that big compared to Earth? The full moons would be AWESOME!
Having some science background of my own, all this space stuff fascinates and excites me. While most of our news promotes what we as humans are capable of destroying, I am heartened by the incredible feats that we as humans are capable of creating.

While I’m intrigued by the science-y stuff, I also love all things metaphysical and in this case, Astrology. From this perspective, I find the “heart” discovery very interesting. Pluto is the planet of utter and complete transformation; often seen as a maleficent planet.
From Master Hilarion in Astrology Plus he states:
The planet Pluto in astrology pertains to that which brings changes into the life — changes in attitude, changes in outlook, changes in the approach to certain areas. The changes…are unavoidable.
The operative word here being: unavoidable. What I have found both for myself and for others, if we avoid or resist these changes, these said changes appear harder and more painful than if we had “voluntarily stepped in the direction in which the events were trying to move [us].”
For some of us these changes can seem devastating…and yet after some time has passed, we come to understand that these changes were actually in our best interest all along.
Now that I see the heart on Pluto, I realize that rather than seeing Pluto as being this intense “for your own good/take your medicine” kind of force, it’s actually demonstrating for us: Tough Love (heart). And from that perspective we can find peace (white dove) and understanding in these changes; knowing that we can either go along with these changes peacefully or we can do it kicking and screaming. It’s our call.
Master Hilarion further states:
Where this planet is located in the birth chart always designates an area or department of life in which the soul has agreed to undergo pressures promoting a deep-seated alteration in its attitudes, habits or understanding. …Pluto is like the irresistible force, sweeping all before it. The only beneficial approach to this planet’s energies is to move in the direction it indicates. To do otherwise is to invite disaster.
In other words…resistance is futile. So, where is Pluto in your chart?
