This week’s MotD theme: Hubba Hubba Hubcaps

I present my coloring/painting of this week’s Mandala of the Week: Hubba Hubba Hubcaps (from Sunday’s MotD post). I decided to go a little wild with this one with lots of dots and spirals. I bought a new white pen and eagerly played with it as well as all my other gel pens. The white really works well and shows quite nicely…YaY!

As I look at this mandala’s coloring, I’m reminded of a delightful, yet poignant Joni Mitchell song, “The Circle Game.”

From amarang9 on eNotes.com about this song, he states:

“The Circle Game” is about youth, nostalgia, regret, hope, and the passage of time. The tone and mood fluctuate between nostalgia, regret, and hope. … Mitchell uses the metaphor of a carousel to describe the passage of time. She notes how the seasons “go ’round and ’round” like a carousel. The ponies on the carousel go up and down like a vertical, ticking clock. …

… Mitchell uses the circle, the carousel to illustrate this idea with a visual image. We can not reverse the carousel, but since it travels in a circle we can revisit where we’ve been at a later time; this is akin to reflecting on the past, be it with regret or nostalgia.

Inspiration for Today

Today’s mandala inspires us to make peace with yesterday, be present today, and roll joyously into tomorrow.

Happy Coloring!
