Distance
“The big picture
— Simon Sinek
doesn’t just come from distance;
it also comes from time.”
“The very least you can do
— Barbara Kingsolver
in your life is to figure out
what you hope for.
And the most you can do
is live inside that hope.
Not admire it from a distance
but live right in it, under its roof.”
“From a distance, there is harmony
— Julie Gold
And it echoes through the land
It’s the voice of hope
It’s the voice of peace
It’s the voice of [everyone]
Today’s MotD encourages us to take a step back from time to time; to see how far we’ve come and to maybe get a clearer view of where we’re going. Too often in our day-to-day lives we overlook the changes we’ve gone through because they usually take their time and are mostly too subtle to even notice…especially if we consciously work on bettering ourselves.
Our challenge becomes being aware enough to recognize how we’ve grown, how our responses to life events now are different from how they used to be. And beyond recognizing these changes, we are mostly encouraged to celebrate them. One way we can know we’ve grown is when we catch ourselves saying something like “I remember how when something like [this] happened in the past, I would be [upset, angry, hurt, etc]. And now it barely registers.”
It always helps to get some perspective, to step back and assess. Even when taking baby steps, growth is happening my friends.
