A new year, a new journey. For 2023 I’ll be following along with “The Success Principles” by Jack Canfield (“Chicken Soup of the Soul” guy). Each week I’ll create a new mandala to color (based on a principle) which will be posted at MandalaoftheWeek.com and free to download. During the week, I plan to “color” it 7 times (one per day). Each time I hope to gain (and share) more insights from that particular insight. So let’s get started.
Responsible Mandala #1
For this coloring, I used markers and explored the question: “what has stopped me from creating the life I want?” Heavy duty question. How would you answer that question?
Here’s what came to mind for me (while my brain was busy coloring):
- Limiting beliefs
- Not real clear on what I want (so how I can I create a life when I don’t know what I want to create?)
Over the last year or so, I’ve gradually become aware of beliefs I harbor that hold me back (the usual players: not good enough, worth issues, who do you think I am, no one wants to hear what I have to say, no one wants to buy what I’m selling, I’m too old, other people are much better at this than I am, etc. you know the drill). It’s finally come to a head and today’s coloring let me know almost immediately that I’m letting my limiting beliefs hold me back.
My challenge becomes overwriting them with new beliefs. (upcoming weeks will cover this topic)
As for the lack of clarity in what I want to create…
These past 4 years (pre-covid and until now) I have been busy doing a lot of things (some important, some not so much)…like a ship at sea sailing everywhere but without any rhyme or reason as to where it’s going. I say this not as an excuse but as a realization that that awareness has come fully to the surface. (week #3 will delve into this more)
And now I direct that question to you: what has stopped you from creating the life you want? How would you color this mandala while pondering this question?

not by the recollection
of our past,
but by the responsibility
for our future.
I invite you to color along with me this year as part of what I’m calling “The Year of Self-Exploration and Expansion” with all of my “Mandalas of the ___” (day, week, month, year). If you’re interested in more of a self-exploration approach to coloring, check out my “Coloring Mandalas as Meditation”.
Feel free to share you colorings on social media with the hashtag #2023MOTD. I’d love to see what comes up for you. I’ll be posting my colorings here on the MandalaoftheDay as well as on FB and IG (@themandalalady). On IG I’ll also be posting time-lapsed videos of my colorings.
