Today’s Mandala Message: Commitment

This week I’m working through Principle #16 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Be Willing to Pay the Price”. I set my intention today to ponder the idea of making a commitment to my goal(s).

Today’s MotD took me a lot longer to do than usual. I struggled with 1) figuring out where this wanted to go 2) doing the detail work and 3) figuring how to make what I saw in my head show up on the screen. I know that there’s this idea among purists and the public at large that using a computer to make art is “cheating” or “letting the computer do all the work” or “taking the easy way” blah blah blah… but I have to tell you, there was nothing easy about this one. Granted I created this faster than if I were to paint it on canvas AND I also know that it would have been a far greater challenge to re-create the effect of this on canvas. Using a painting app (Procreate to be exact) allows me to be far more creative and expansive, it allows me to take my imagination to whole new levels of play and artistic license.

But I digress…What does that have to do with commitment. Late last year I made a commitment to color a mandala of day throughout 2023 and post it. Without that commitment to my goal, there’s a good chance I would have bailed on today’s coloring. So along with having the willingness to pay the price, making a commitment to the goal…to paying the price (at least for me), is an important factor in achieving my goal(s).

So how about you? Do you find it easier to “pay the price” when you’ve made a solid commitment to your goal(s)?

“There’s a difference
between interest and commitment.
When you’re interested
in doing something,
you do it only
when circumstances permit.
When you’re committed to something,
you accept no excuses,
only results.”
