23-122 The Rule of Five #3

Today’s Mandala Message: Go the Extra Yard

This week I’m working through Principles #23 and #24 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Practice the Rule of Five” and “Exceed Expectations”, respectively. I set my intention today to ponder the idea of going the extra yard. In his book, Canfield uses the phrase “go the extra mile”; for me that feels a bit overwhelming. But an extra yard? I can do that.

About going the “extra mile” he states “…it’s the hallmark of high achievers who know that exceeding expectations helps you stand above the crowd. Almost by force of habit, successful people simply do more. As a result, they experience not only greater financial rewards for this extra efforts but also a personal transformation, becoming more self-confident, more self-reliant, and more influential with those around them.

So that being said, I actually go the extra “mile” when it comes to my mandalas. Along with doing the mandala of the day, I also have the mandala of the week, the mandala of the month, and the mandala of the year. If anything, left unchecked, I can usually go the extra 10 miles. It’s because of that that do what I can to take care of myself by limiting how far I go…thus the “go the extra yard” message.

So how about you? Do you tend to overdo or do you do just enough to get by? Are there times you could go the extra yard? …or the extra mile?

“Go the extra mile
because doing your best
in this moment
puts you in the best place
for the next moment.”

— Oprah Winfrey
