23-138 Celebrate Your Past Wins #5

Today’s Mandala Message: Complete the Cycle

This week I’m working through Principle #26 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Acknowledge Your Positive Past”. I set my intention today to ponder the idea of “completing the cycle” by acknowledging and rewarding myself with my current successes.

Canfield states: “Of course, even more important than completing, the simple, enjoyable act of acknowledging and rewarding our successes causes our subconscious mind to say, ‘Hey, succeeding is cool. Every time we produce a success, we get to do smething fun. Jack will buy us something we want or take us someplace neat. Let’s have more of these successes, so Jack will take us out to play’.”

I know I don’t do this often enough. Usually when I complete something, I sit with it for a moment, realize that “wow I did it”, and then I drop it, to move onto the next thing. I need to give myself more credit and allow myself some form of reward. When I ran the LA Marathon, even though I finished in about 10,000th place (there were still about 5,000 people behind me)…they still gave me a medal!

A good mindfulness practice would be to give yourself a high-five with each achievement.

So how about you? Do you acknowledge yourself when you achieve a goal? Do you reward yourself or do you just move onto the next thing?

“If you believe in yourself
and have dedication and pride
– and never quit, you’ll be a winner.
The price of victory is high
but so are the rewards.”
