Creativity
“the ability to produce or develop original work, theories, techniques, or thoughts—displaying originality, imagination, and expressiveness”
Creativity is a core value for me. I generally apply to the art that I create. I love trying new supplies, new techniques, new combinations, and so on. Making the exact same thing every time is stagnation and boring to me. I see my art as expressions of myself, the world around me and beyond…usually in mandala form.
But creativity is more than making art. Notice how the definition has completely left out the word “art”…because it IS more than just art. Want to see creativity in action? Just get on any of the social media platforms and watch how creative people are with their tips and tricks on everything from cooking to car maintenance to landscaping to technology devices…as well as everything related to the arts: painting, dancing, music, writing, bookbinding, singing, fashion, acting, playing, and so on.
If you’re unsure about how to start…start with the question “what if…” or “what would happen if I …”. For example: what if I tried it this way? or I wonder what would happen if I mixed this with that” or “what if I went this way instead of that way”. Just play with it…that’s creativity!
Today’s MotD encourages us to explore our creative side in whatever way suits us, in whatever way makes our hearts sing and gets us excited to do or be something that feels like an authentic expression of ourselves.
How about you? Is creativity a core value for you?
BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
