Lesson 105: ”God’s peace and joy are mine.”
AI Reframe: Peace and joy are inherent to me and in me.
Suggested Exercise:
For the first five minutes of each hour—or whenever feasible—think of your “enemies”, ones we have denied God’s peace and joy in some way. As we deny them to others, we also deny them for ourselves. Tell each one as they come to mind:
My brother*, peace and joy I offer you,
That I may have God’s peace and joy as mine.
Or you’re welcome to use one of these alternates:
My friend, peace and joy I offer you,
That I may have God’s peace and joy as mine.
My holy friend, peace and joy I offer you,
That I may have God’s peace and joy as mine.
Beloved one, peace and joy I offer you,
That I may have God’s peace and joy as mine.
From the lesson:
“³Thus you prepare yourself to recognize God’s gifts to you, and let your mind be free of all that would prevent success today. ⁴Now are you ready to accept the gift of peace and joy that God has given you. ⁵Now are you ready to experience the joy and peace you have denied yourself. ⁶Now you can say, “God’s peace and joy are mine,” for you have given what you would receive.” (ACIM, W-105.7:3-6)
* ACIM uses “brother” to signify shared divine origin and equality, not biological maleness. Substitute whatever term that helps you with today’s practices.

Message
From the lesson:
”God’s peace and joy are yours. ²Today we will accept them, knowing they belong to us. ³And we will try to understand these gifts increase as we receive them. ⁴They are not like to the gifts the world can give, in which the giver loses as he gives the gift; the taker is the richer by his loss.” (ACIM, W-105.1:1-4)
God’s gifts of peace and joy are already ours. All we need do to receive them is to give them.
During my first practice period, I applied this idea to each of my “enemies,” using “beloved one” instead of “brother”—acknowledging that we are all Divinely beloved. Who am I to not see them as that as well?
With each one, I felt a lightness toward them and in my body. Instead of the animosity I had held, I felt neutral. Instead of seeing their physical form, I felt like I was connecting with their light—their true Self.
I also realized this didn’t let them off the hook for their hurtful behavior. It simply shifted my perspective of them.
I can see the value in applying today’s idea to everyone I see throughout the day. The more I do it, the more peace and joy I receive as my own. It’s like lighting other people’s candles with mine. No matter how many candles I light, my own still shines brightly. And the more candles lit, the greater the light. Win-win.
In worldly terms, when we give something, we no longer have it. In the Course’s terms, when we give peace and joy, we receive peace and joy.
“Lessons 105…says everything we give—joy, love, creativity—expands. Creates growth. Generates more.”
