Lesson 120: ”Review: I rest in God; I am as God created me.”

AI Reframe: I rest in trust, and I remain exactly as I was meant to be.

Suggested Practice:
Devote five minutes twice a day, or longer, to considering the thoughts that are assigned today. Read over the ideas and comments that are written with each. Then think about them while letting your mind relate them to your needs, your seeming problems, and all your concerns.

Today’s Ideas:

I rest in God*.

“I rest in God today, and let Him work in me and through me, while I rest in Him in quiet and in perfect certainty.“

and

I am as God* created me.

I am God’s Son**. Today I lay aside all sick illusions of myself, and let my Father tell me Who I really am.” (ACIM, W-120.1:1–2:3)

Then throughout the day, hourly if possible, give the two ideas a brief review: one at the top of the hour, one at the bottom. Conclude each period restating the idea for that part of the hour.

As a reminder, these practices are planned to help you form the habit of applying what you learn each day to everything you do.

* The Course defines God/Him/Father as an impersonal, formless, and infinite principle of pure Love. Substitute whatever term that resonates best and allows you to receive the message.

** “God’s Son” — Instead of a hierarchical title, this emphasizes our shared humanity and our equal role in each other’s salvation—to see the world, and everyone in it, through the eyes of love, thereby waking up from the dream of separation.

Message

When I ponder these two ideas—I rest in God and I am as God created me—I feel like I’m tapping into a higher part of myself, beyond this human body. It feels expansive, uplifting, warm, and inviting. Even when I’ve connected with people who have passed away, every one of them feels radiant and joyful.

It almost begs the question: why would I want to come into human form in the first place? The answer that comes to mind: to have the experience of expressing myself while in form. The catch is, we rarely know our “who” or our “why” once we arrive. Maybe we do, but our environment, culture, and the ego-mind that comes with the body obscure them.

That’s where the Course comes in: to remind us who we are and that we are not alone. Who we are is love and light, peace and joy. Anything that blocks that leads to suffering. Our why is the same as God’s Will for us: perfect happiness. We live that by being the light we are, sharing our light with others, and showing the way for them to be the light they are.

Today’s lesson tells us, quite simply: remember, remember, remember. When we feel lost or confused, remember. When we feel disconnected, remember. When we feel anything but peace, love, or joy, remember. And just as important—remember our Divine connection.

One way to remember is to repeat today’s ideas as often as needed. Another is to borrow from Lesson 118 and ask:

How does my Higher Self want to show up in this moment ?

“I lay aside my faith in the alternate reality of limitation, sickness, doom, and gloom…I joyously release any idea that interferes with love and happiness, light and peace.”
