Lesson 211: Review of Lesson 191: I am the holy Son of God Himself.

Reframe: I am a radiant expression of love and wholeness.

Suggested Practice:

Overall Approach to the Review of Lessons 181-200:

“Besides the time you give morning and evening, which should not be less than fifteen minutes, and the hourly remembrances you make throughout the day, use the idea as often as you can between them. ³Each of these ideas alone would be sufficient for salvation, if it were learned truly. ⁴Each would be enough to give release to you and to the world from every form of bondage, and invite the memory of God to come again. …

“These practice sessions … are centered round a central theme with which we start and end each lesson. ²It is this:

³I am not a body. ⁴I am free.
⁵For I am still as God created me.

Special thought for today’s Lesson:

191: I am the holy Son of God Himself

²In silence and in true humility I seek God’s glory, to behold it in the Son whom He created as my Self. (ACIM, W-211.1:2)

⁶The day begins and ends with this. ⁷And we repeat it every time the hour strikes, or we remember, in between, we have a function that transcends the world we see. ⁸Beyond this, and a repetition of the special thought we practice for the day, no form of exercise is urged, except a deep relinquishment of everything that clutters up the mind, and makes it deaf to reason, sanity and simple truth. (ACIM, W-rVI.in.1:1–3:8)

“…Permit no idle thought to go unchallenged. ³If you notice one, deny its hold and hasten to assure your mind that this is not what it would have. ⁴Then gently let the thought which you denied be given up, in sure and quick exchange for the idea we practice for the day.”

When you are tempted, hasten to proclaim your freedom from temptation, as you say:

This thought I do not want. ³I choose instead _____________

And then repeat the idea for the day, and let it take the place of what you thought.” (ACIM, W-rVI.in.5:1–6:4)

Message

I felt compelled to edit today’s special thought to read: In silence and true humility I seek God’s Love and to recognize it as also being within me, for I am as God created me.

Written this way, it felt more believable to me. With all these review lessons, we’re meant to keep reminding ourselves that we are not bodies, we are free, and we are as God created us. If God is holy, then it follows that we are too, because we came from Him.

When I’m in this frame of mind, it’s easier to grasp. But when I let my guard down, the ego mind seizes the moment and does its best to discourage me. It starts with thoughts like: What makes you think you’re so holy? You can’t even keep your house spotless. No one’s interested in what you have to offer. Hundreds of people already do what you do. You’ll probably make a fool of yourself making art videos.

With that kind of thinking, my challenge becomes learning to not let my guard down—or better yet, to feel no need for a guard at all, because I’m already fully aligned with the truth that I am a holy Child of God. As an expression of God, I can forgive myself for feeling guilty about my home, for thinking I’m not good enough, and for letting fear stop me from promoting my art.

And with that forgiveness comes my salvation—seeing myself and others as the light of God we are: holy, whole, and complete.

“My superpower, which also happens to be your superpower, is love. Every moment we get the opportunity to love what’s in front of us: every person, every event, every seeming mishap.”
