Lesson 224: ”God is my Father, and He Loves His Son.”

Reframe: I am embraced by love, as all beings are.

Suggested Practice:

From now on:
One in the morning and one in the evening for however many minutes feels sufficient. Then every hour remember/recite the idea for the day.

Prayer For today:
(feel free to swap out the wording to whatever resonates with you best)

“My Name, O Father, still is known to You. ²I have forgotten It, and do not know where I am going, who I am, or what it is I do. ³Remind me, Father, now, for I am weary of the world I see. ⁴Reveal what You would have me see instead.” (ACIM, W-224.2:1-4)

From the PART II IntroductionRead the whole introduction here.

Words will mean little now. ²We use them but as guides on which we do not now depend. ³For now we seek direct experience of truth alone. ⁴The lessons that remain are merely introductions to the times in which we leave the world of pain, and go to enter peace. ⁵Now we begin to reach the goal this course has set, and find the end toward which our practicing was always geared.” (ACIM, W-pII.in.1:1-5)

For Lessons 221-230: Forgiveness is the theme. Read the whole article here.
“Forgiveness recognizes what you thought your brother did to you has not occurred. ²It does not pardon sins and make them real. ³It sees there was no sin. ⁴And in that view are all your sins forgiven. ⁵What is sin, except a false idea about God’s Son? ⁶Forgiveness merely sees its falsity, and therefore lets it go. ⁷What then is free to take its place is now the Will of God.” (ACIM, W-pII.1.1:1-7)

Message

From the Lesson:

My true Identity is so secure, so lofty, sinless, glorious and great, wholly beneficent and free from guilt, that Heaven looks to It to give it light. ²It lights the world as well. ³It is the gift my Father gave to me; the one as well I give the world.⁴There is no gift but this that can be either given or received. ⁵This is reality, and only this. ⁶This is illusion’s end. ⁷It is the truth.” (ACIM, W-224.1:1-7)

I love what this paragraph is saying. In many ways, it sums up the core of the Course. It makes me think that if I were to rewrite the Ten Commandments à la A Course in Miracles, I’d make today’s lesson title the first commandment—though with more inclusive wording, like:

The Creator loves their creations, of which I am One.

If we truly embraced that statement, along with the first two sentences of the lesson that clearly state who we are, imagine the world we’d create as loved creations. God—our Creator—wants us to be happy, successful, and the lights we truly are.

When I sit still with these statements, I feel capable of anything. I feel inspired to live up to my full potential. I look around my studio and get excited about following through on my project ideas. It makes me want to pour that excitement into my art and share it with the world. That joy and excitement is the light in me wanting to shine.

My challenge is staying diligent about ignoring my ego mind’s rejections. When they arise, I remind myself of today’s lesson and tell my ego: “Even though you think otherwise, I know that God, my Creator, loves me and wants my light to shine.”

God loves and wants this for all of us.

“Imagine how different our lives would be if we’d been asked about our true identity, our spiritual purpose before we were born ?”
